Name of the Department: Zoology
History of the Department:
Department of zoology was established in the academic year 1969-70 (June-1969). Shri T.G. Guthe was appointed as the principal of this college in July 1969 who was the founder head of the department.
Shri. Sankaye B.B. joined department in the year 1969, T.G. Guthe left the College in June 1971 and Shri. Sankaye took over charge of the department as head.
Shri. Dhonde E.G. joined the department as lecturer in the year 1971. Shri. Sankaye along with Dhonde ran the department efficiently up to March 2000. During this tenure Shri. Sankaye received U.G.C. teacher fellowship under faculty improvement program and he was on study leave from 13th July 1976 to 12th July 1979. During this period Shri Dhonde look after the activities of the department. Shri Sankaye received Ph.D. degree in the year 1981. The department has successfully implemented the various U.G.C. Schemes such as COSIP, ULP, COSIP and COSIP fellowship programmes, basic assistance, Development of under graduation education etc. and established a well-furnished laboratory.
Dr. Sankaye left the department in March 2000 and joined as principal at Maharashtra Udyagiri Mahavidyalaya, Udgir, Dist. Latur. Since 12th March 2000 Shri Dhonde is working as head of the department.
Shri Dhonde was retired on 2008 and Dr. A.V. Munde takes over the charge of head of department till date 2017 and Dr. R.B. Desai was joined on September 2010 and take charge of Head of Department from 2017.
